    Megadarra (Syrian Lentils and Rice)

    Hi Everyone! Today I want to share with you a very simple recipe that is perfect during lent for meatless Fridays.  My sitto (grandma in Arabic) used to make it all the time!  It is extremely easy to make, delicious, and very healthy!  This meal goes very well with any kind of pickles and also beets.  I served mine with pickled beets and baby dill pickles.  Pepperoncini peppers and pickled turnips also go extremely well with this meal.  I hope you will enjoy it!

    Okay… I know some of you are probably thinking… Sarah has gone crazy… this is DISGUSTING!  But I have to tell you… it is totally NOT!  It is really delicious, and super healthy and nutritious!  REALLY… I promise!!  Honestly, I like liver to begin with, but I think that cooked this way, it is palatable, even to someone, who is not thrilled about liver.  If you are still not convinced, please consider the following information about liver: Liver is densely nutritious (practically a super food!) and is high in Protein, Vitamin A, Riboflavin, Niacin, Vitamin B6, Folate, Vitamin B12, Pantothenic Acid, Phosphorus, Copper and Selenium [1].
