So it is definitely fall! The weather is starting to get colder and it has even snowed here in the Northeast, although it did not stick. I am sure it is only a short while before we will have oodles of snow! When the weather is cold, I really like to enjoy hot cocoa, but the powdered mixes are often high in points, and contain hydrogenated oils or trans fat… which is not a good thing!
Last night, I came up with this recipe for homemade hot cocoa, and it is low in points and has no artificial ingredients, like partially hydrogenated oil! My boyfriend and I enjoyed it while watching a movie, and it was perfect on a cold night! I hope you all enjoy it!
- 2 1/2 cups unsweetened almond milk
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 3 tbsp cocoa powder (unsweetened)
- 1 tsp vanilla
Whisk all of the ingredients together in a small sauce pan over medium heat. Whisk until all of the ingredients have been well combined and continue stirring constantly until the cocoa is heated to your desired temperature. Pour into mugs and serve with whipped cream or marshmallows. Enjoy!Serves 2, WWP+: 3 per serving
